Here are a couple of Christmas Commissions I did for some people. I am very pleased about how the monkey/pig one turned out, and of course I am always happy to draw Superman. (Hes holding Lex Luthor in his battle Armour for those who don't know).

Just a quick Mickey take of my Graduation film for Christmas. Happy Christmas everyone.

Its been a busy 2 weeks. Here is the painted command character rotation sheet.

Saturday, 20 November 2010

Line work rotation of the Commander character. Now I am in the middle of painting it.

Saturday, 6 November 2010

The second version of the model sheet, Painted up an looking nice. I removed his backpack for the convenience of the modeler whom will make the character and the backpack separately.
More to come.........
Here is the first painted up version of a character. This one was really to let me get the feel for what sort of colouring method I was going to use.
Not forgetting the commander character, He doesn't have a rotation yet, concentrating on one at a time, but in terms of development, here you can see variations on this costume. I will make him more natural looking in later drawings, not so ridged, but good enough to get an idea.
It's all about the Colour Scheme. The director wanted to have a lived in colour, one that looked like they hadn't had a shower in weeks. So I whacked up this colour scheme sheet to let him pick his fav.
Here we have a line work rotation model sheet of the soldier type, more developed with details of his steam/coal powered backpack.
Another attempt, with more success. The two on the left was the gensis of the characters I was going for, wiht elemnts of the one on the right as well. The top one was for the soldier type, bottom for the commander type.
Well, I've said that I'm designing some character for a game and here are a few examples of what I've been doing. The game is called 'Mist of Stagnation'. (check it out) It's a Modification game of Half Life 2, with a steampunk feel to it. It all looks very exciting. This first Image was to gauge the Directors reaction to what he briefed me, which was for 2 characters, a soldier type and a commander type. This is the first go at the soldier type which was rejected for his beefcake macho look.

Straight after the Car painting, I decided I wanted to do another, so I chose a Fanboat.
I was looking for reference for the painting and I kept on asking people " What are those boat things that have a large fan on like in CSI Miami?" . No one knew. Turns out they are just called fanboats!
Hi people. Sorry for the lack of posts the last two weeks, I've been busy with work in a London animation studio, as well as doing some concepts for a half life 2 Mod game which has an interesting design twist. I will post more about that when I know I can let artwork go public.
This piece was loosely based on the films Mad Max. Just another quickie environment and vehicle.

Just a Quick concept I wanted to do for the last few days. It only took me 3hrs

Here it is finally. The final version of the Lady Scientist and the final Image with background. This Did take me longer than normal. I'm happy with it, but I always prefer the line work better than the painted version.
At last, some of the character is done. I've faded the layout just show the character more hear, but it also works with the full on background. However, been up all night, now need a break. Could probably finish this all tonight. See how it goes.

Here is some steam for the steam Punk. I think the Layout is pretty much done now. The bottom image show the camera on sharp focus on everything and then the top one shows a focus pull to the mid ground. This is where the lady scientist is going to be. You can probably see her outline.

more work in Progress.
Still a work in progress. Bit slow at this one but its getting there. Should be done with the layout soon, then I can paint the lady scientist.

Tuesday, 5 October 2010

Going to bed now. Before I do here is where im up to. I'll finish it later today. Work in Progress.

Here is the layout with a clean line to it. The bottom one shows the same consistency while the to one show the outside background less sharp.
New post. Steampunk layout with my science lady. She is in a boiler room of sorts with generic steampunk stuff. Outside are great waterfalls of lava off of rock faces. A iron bridge with steam train rides over a river of lava.
A clean line version of the lady scientist from the steampunk tribe thing. I like it but have to make it more steam punky.
Every underground tribe needs a sexy lady scientist, otherwise society will fall apart!

New Project. Underground tribe. The brief was about people living underground after some nuclear war. How they would look and act and survive.(Plus, there is no electricity).
Every one else is doing morlock style creatures, but I felt like leaning toward a more steampunk theme when I heard no electricity. I also figured that humans would live near lava to keep warm.
So here are a few Ideas that popped into my head. Still developing.

The Final Image with a textured design rather than a background. That was fun. Last time I painted this it took me a couple of days and was rubbish. This only to a few hours.

Sunday, 3 October 2010

The final character color. Now to put in the background and light sources coming from above and reflecting in the water on the ground.
Basic Skin tones.
This is an older concept piece I have decided to redo because my original was done when I was learning photoshop. Also I saved it wrong and now the only version I have I awful quality, still, more practice. This concept was for a water based magic creature. This I the final linework.

Work in Progress. Not to sure about it.
Here is an extended version of Space Station city. It includes a city, Highways, a mountain area as well as a lake district, dessert, beach and station display showing statistic of the day.
A little project i've set myself. I have based this task on a city in an orbiting space station. The space station has various elements to replicate earth environment. I will sketch up a larger version, however I am not normally a layout artist, so this is new ground for me. I will paint this section of the space station and see how it goes.

And he it is, The Final Image of my Insect Based Armour Design. I went for a more tribal look rather than armored army man, and I think it came out quite well, I didn't do the background in colour because its a character design competition and I didn't want to distract from the main event. He is slaying a big worm looking bug in this picture.
Here is the final basic coloured version of my Insect Based Armour Design. Now to put him in a scene otherwise he's floating in mid air

Wednesday, 22 September 2010

Basic Skin Tones Painted, I'll move onto the Armour/costume now.

Clean line.
Final rough character pose/ design.

Tuesday, 21 September 2010

Just poses sketches. I really like the crouching one but that doesn't really show off the character design much, so it might be a mix between the original concept and the air punching one.

Figuring the lighting
